Good, but not excellent, soundboard recording of a real In Your Face Tour blast! It's a pity this show didn't last over two hours, but maybe the guys wouldn't have rocked so hard then.
I like the James Bond intro followed by Toys in the Attic as opener. The last verse of Toys is sung by Joe. There's no break between Toys and Elevator, I think they intended to blow the crowd away by such an energetic opening (appearantly the crowd survived, as you can hear them between the songs).
The crowd are 'Some crazy motherfuckers tonight," according to Steven before Sweet emotion. Steven himself fucks up the first sentence of Sweet Emotion (i.e. they are wrong). After Livin' on the edge, Steven says: "I do declare: I see a lot of familiar faces! 1978, right (while making a sniffing noise)?" What It Takes has a Steven on piano intro, with quite original lyrics: "Well, I pull into town, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Where I saw my old ex, with a brand new [...]. Well she was looking alright, but she made me feel weird. 'Cos the place I once kissed her, was now growing a beard. But I'm feeling alright, 'cos she shaved it tonight. ahaha! ...... It's true and I thought to myself: 'Shit! There goes my old girlfriend..."
Alternate lyrics in What it Takes: "Tell me what you think of thinking twice." Between 'Toss of the' and 'dice' at the end of the song, there's a 12 second silence. Before the 'Let it go, let it go,' Steven adds: "I don't care what your mama told ya." And after 'I don't wanna burn' it is 'I lost the love so many time ago.' There's no 'I don't want to burn in paradise at all.' By the way: it is one of the best live versions of What it Takes in our collection!
After Let the Music do The Talking, Steven asks the audience: "You like that old shit, huh? .... [a little drum part of Big 10 Inch record can be heard] What was that? Get your wings! Let's see if I got the right album!" Then he starts playing the first tunes of Big 10 Inch Record on his harmonica. (for the non-knowers: neither Let the music do the talking, nor Big 10 Inch Record is on the Get your Wings album).
Falling in Love hasn't been played much the last few tours, so it's pretty amazing to hear no mistakes in the lyrics Steven produces. I guess he stood right in front of the teleprompter during the song. Before IDWTMAT, Steven tells the audience that 4 or 5 years ago, they recorded a video 'right in this town.' He also tells about a space-shuttle and Nasa and concludes with: "You didn't know that, did you? I goes like this..." After the song he says: "You know hat I'm talking about? I fell for you!"
The second disc starts with Steven saying: "Well that shit is gonna be in the newspaper tomorrow!" Jaded starts immediately after that. Don't know if something really happened (and was left out after editing), or that it was just something like "We're playing the shit out of ourselves and that will surely be remarked by the media. (See how good we are)" If the latter is meant, I don't dare to argue based on this show...
The Blues intro to Pink is introduced with "This is entirely too much fun." Before Stop Messing Around, Joe isn't introduced and also, there's a little 'argument' between Joe and Steven. Joe saying: "How are you doing Minneapolis? Steven, we were in Las Vegas last night, not in Indianapolis!" Steven: "I didn't say nothing about last night." Joe (not in his microphone): "That was last night?" (not sure about that, it's hard to hear) Steven: "And that wasn't a girl at the end of the stage either." Of course, after all this messing around, the song starts.
After Stop Messing Around, Steven says: "Joe Perry! Joe Perry in the house! Joe Perry! 'Cos he is so very! On the other guitar, on the other hand..." Last Child starts. After the intro, there's an alternative - extra - verse: "Oow, kick the dog, oow, kick the cat, tell me what you think about that."
Listening to Dream On, this must be one of Steven's good days. Everythins is quite alright, from the high notes to the screaming. I could have written this before, as there's not much to remark on his singing here. His voice sounded a bit raw on What it Takes, but that was it, 'till now. Let's see if I can find anything in the final songs to complain about...
During Train Kept a Rollin,' Steven does a verse on a higher voicing. I don't know what more happens on stage, but you can hear the crowd going mad from that moment 'till the end of the song. (remember it is soundboard, so the crowd couldn't barely be heard during the other songs).
After Train, Steven says: "I'm wearing this in honour of the warm weather lately." I guess he walked around the stage bare-chested at that time. "On the guitar, mister Joe fucking Perry" and Draw the line starts. Listening to the noise, Joe is mistreating his guitar with his T-shirt at the end of Draw the Line.
After Draw the Line has ended, Steven asks the crowd for a moment of silence. There's still some feedback from the guitar audible and Steven says: "Look here, it still singing." The beginning of Mother Popcorn is a bit strange.
Steven starts yelling and screams 'Some like 'em fat' followed by 'some like 'em tall,' which he almost whispers. Then the song starts properly. The last verse is alternative, too. However, I could decipher it (English isn't my native language, you know).
Walk this Way starts with: "Get the fuck out of my face." The band introductio: Steven introduces Joey while making drumming noises with his mouth between Joey and Kramer. He lets the crowd yell fuckin' between Joe and Perry. All the other introductions are as usual. Before they leave the stage, Steven says: "Remember: it's great to be hated for who you are and loved for who you are not! Good night, god bless you, great Christmas!" The whole band introduction sounds a bit strange. I think they left a microphone open, which was pointed at the crowd.
When the concert is over, you hear Jailhouse Rock is played.
After all, the only complaint still is that this show didn't last over two hours...
